🪞 “The Mirror Misheard You”
A mirror heard you wrong one night,
Beneath the fairground’s twisted light.
You asked for peace, it gave you fog,
You whispered “cat,” and summoned a dog.
You said, “I wish for a clearer view,”
It opened a door and let something through.
A ghost with manners, sipping tea,
Said, “Pardon me, were you calling me?”
A demon in sequins joined the song,
Insisting it knew what was going wrong.
“It’s all a mix-up, don’t you fret...
Reflections get their signals wet.”
The moon applauded, the stars turned twice,
Reality bent (and tried to be nice).
Your echo stuttered, your shadow sneezed,
The carnival sighed, “We aim to please.”
Now mirrors giggle when you pass by,
Repeating your words with a wink and a sigh.
So speak with care, or at least with flair...
You never know who’s listening there.
